Pastor Andrew Russell teaches from Matthew 22:1–14 with a message entitled - The Invitation of the King

In Matthew 22, Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a king preparing a wedding feast for his son.
The King represents God the Father, and the Son represents Jesus Christ. The wedding feast pictures salvation, joy, and eternal life in God’s Kingdom.
The king sends out invitations, but many refuse to come. Some are too busy with their farms and businesses, while others reject the king completely.
This shows how people often reject God:
* through indifference,
* worldly distractions,
* or open rebellion.
But the king continues to invite others. He sends his servants into the highways to gather anyone willing to come—“both bad and good.”
This reveals the grace of God. Salvation is offered to all people, not because they deserve it, but because the King is merciful.
However, one man enters without a wedding garment. He wanted to enjoy the feast without accepting what the king had provided.
The wedding garment represents the righteousness of Christ. We cannot enter God’s Kingdom dressed in our own goodness. We must be clothed in the salvation God provides.
Jesus ends the parable with a serious warning:
“For many are called, but few are chosen.”
The invitation is open to all, but only those who truly respond to the King by faith in Christ will enter His Kingdom.

In Matthew 21:18–46, Jesus confronts the religious leaders of Israel with one powerful message after another — exposing empty religion, fruitless faith, hardened hearts, and the danger of rejecting the Son of God.
From the cursing of the fig tree…to the cleansing of the temple…to the parables that revealed Israel’s rebellion…

Jesus shows that outward religion without true repentance and faith is ultimately worthless before God.

The leaders appeared spiritual on the outside, yet refused to surrender to the very Messiah standing before them.

At the center of this passage is one of the most powerful declarations in Scripture:
“The Stone the builders rejected has become the chief Cornerstone.”

The Son they rejected would become:• the risen Savior,• the foundation of God’s Kingdom,• and the coming King before whom every knee will bow.

In this message we explore:• The meaning of the cursed fig tree• Why Jesus cleansed the temple• The authority of Christ challenged by religious leaders• The parable of the two sons• The parable of the wicked tenants• The rejected Stone becoming the Cornerstone• The danger of religion without repentance• And the eternal consequences of rejecting Jesus Christ

The question is:“What have you done with the Son?”
