Guest Speaker - Mark Kilner - Luke 10 The Good Samaritan

Pastor Andrew Russell teaches from Matthew 27:26–44 in a message entitled - The Cross of Jesus

Jesus is mocked, beaten, crowned with thorns, and led to Golgotha. The soldiers see a prisoner. The religious leaders see a rejected Messiah. The crowd sees a man dying on a cross.
But Matthew wants us to see something more:
This is the King.

In Matthew 27:26–44, we walk through the final steps to Calvary—from the scourging and cruel mockery of Jesus, to Simon carrying the cross, to the moment Jesus is crucified between two criminals.
The crown is made of thorns. The throne is a cross. The King is rejected.
And yet, through it all, Jesus is accomplishing the very purpose for which He came.
He could have come down from the cross—but He stayed.
Not because the nails held Him there.
Love did.

In this message, we look closely at the suffering of Christ, the significance of the crown of thorns, the road to Golgotha, and the extraordinary truth revealed at the cross:

The One being mocked as King is truly the King who came to save us.
“He saved others; Himself He cannot save.” — Matthew 27:42
They meant it as mockery.
But in ways they could never understand, they were declaring one of the deepest truths of Calvary:
If Jesus had saved Himself, He could not have saved us.

Watch as we continue our verse-by-verse journey through the Gospel of Matthew and come again to the foot of the cross.

Matthew 27:26-44 The Cross of Jesus

Pastor Andrew Russell teaches from Matthew 27:1–26 in a message entitled - What will you do with Jesus?

One question stands above every other question you will ever answer:
What will you do with Jesus?
In Matthew 27:1–26, Judas is crushed by guilt. Pilate knows Jesus is innocent but gives in to the crowd. Barabbas—the guilty man—walks free while Jesus, the innocent Son of God, is condemned in his place.
And that is the heart of the Gospel.
The guilty goes free because the Innocent One takes his place.
Jesus was rejected, mocked, scourged, and delivered to the cross—not because He was powerless, but because He willingly gave Himself for sinners.
So this is not only a story about what they did with Jesus.
It brings the question directly to us:
What will you do with Jesus?
